Its kind of like Sea Lice, once you have it, it develops into a very itchy rash, in all sorts of places. You can use SeaSafe to prevent the reaction to it.

And Gumbo Limbo is a tree that grows in Belize, the bark of which is used for skin ailments.

Gumbo limbo is also found in Florida and is called ironwood tree. I called my medical doc, Teresita Mendez, early Sunday morning and told her I needed to see a doc and would be by to pick her up in 5 mins. We drove up to see Miss Hortense, granny healer in Ladyville, who made a poltice of gumbo limbo leaves (also called chaca in Maya and latin name is Bursera simaruba) and drink from leaves and bark. 5 hrs later, called my medical doc and drove over for a shot of antihistine for relief from the itch. Still using the gumbo limbo, but very happy to have had something for fast relief.

Did you have the rash on your lips and inside your mouth as well? A doctor told me recently that the Hand,Foot and Mouth virus was very common this year.

I bought some at:

SeaSafe

You can also by it at Drugstore.com

I think that I read where you can buy it in San Pedro, bought I'm not sure.

Hope the critters are ready to go elsewhere soon. Maybe they need help packing their lil suitcases!

Yes, I had it in my mouth also. Regardless, it was not H,F&M. From my own research on the internet, it didn't look like that, though it certainly hit all of the same sites on my body. Completely different looking rash and blister size. This was further satisfied by the skin doctor. He said it was just a normal virus and my further research in that regard, bore it out. The mystery remains as to where it was contracted.

As I've said before, normal virus or not, I hope I never experience anything like that again.
