My name is Amanda, and I like to travel. // It’s a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and, if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no telling where you might be swept off to. - J.R.R. Tolkien // This quote is really the basis of my travel philosophy and, therefore, my blog. I think one of the best things about traveling is the ability to just get lost in it. To set aside the maps and itineraries (although I also love those, too), and just see where the road carries you off to, learning and evolving and relishing in the experience along the way. It’s my goal to get swept off as often as possible.
Swimming at The Split on Caye Caulker

Sure you can take walks or ride a bike around the island. But there’s really only one place to be on Caye Caulker — and that’s at The Split. Named because of a narrow channel that literally splits the island, The Split is the closest to a beach that you’ll find here. Complete with wooden see-saw tables in the water and some of the clearest, prettiest water you’ve ever seen, it’s easy to overlook the fact that there’s barely any sand here. Instead, spread your towel out on the crumbling concrete pier and hop into the perpetually perfect-temperature water.
