Comparing the west bank and the east bank of the Macal. As you take a boat to the north from the dam, you see Mountain Pine Ridge on the left, and the Chiquibul Forest on the right.
Behind the Chalillo Dam, we took the Macal mostly north while we spent a few hours in this "lagoon," birdwatching, sightseeing, and boating.
Its quite amazing how two different microclimates can co-exist so close together, just separated by the river.
