Juvenile Middle American Smooth-scaled Racer (Dryadophis melanolomus)
32cm, found "racing" across a trail in moist lowland tropical forest ~ this is a diurnal species that preys upon small amphibians and lizards, hence its other common name of Lizard Eater; decribed in texts as "nonvenomous but will bite freely" to which my hand can testify! — in Alta Vista
