Flower from Shaving Brush Tree
Got a branch of Shaving Brush Tree from a nice fellow along the road for 2 yrs ago. Planted 4 cuttings and here is the first one in flower.
It is native to the drier regions - Pacific part of Central America. Family Bombacaceae - like Ceiba and Provision Bark. The guy who gave me this had brought it from Guatemala. He has a small shop on the Hummingbird Highway. Just after Middlesex - when u are coming from south - going North. 2nd shop on right side of road after a small hill 1/4 mile after Middlesex school
The light brown part of the acorn like flower buds grows into a 4" long cigar, which then opens like a banana as the flower of Provision Bark. Flower is similar in size approximately 5".
