Snorkeler approaching brain coral in shallow water, South Water Caye
This is in front of South Water Caye fall of 1990. Can't remember the name of the girl in the pic but we were all camping on the island for 3 months with Coral Cay Conservation
Grooved Brain Coral is a large, reef-building coral that can be found throughout the Caribbean Sea and in adjacent waters. Though they appear to be very large, only the outer few millimeters represent living tissue - while the rest is a calcium carbonate skeleton.
