The Jaguar Underworld: Male jaguar in a cave, caught by camera trap
My dear friends, after 4 long years of no results, persistence paid off. On Valentines day this year, this male jaguar, Romeo, came to the ancient Mayan cave in Central American jungles where I had my camera trap. Maintained by the incredible rangers Reynold Cal and Stevan Reneau, their knowledge of the area, jungle craft and the jaguar tracking is unmatched. Because of their jaguar skills they were able to pin point exactly where the jaguar would pass. Four years of nothing but a few rats and pigeons, but we decided not to give up. If Romeo was a meter more to the left or right it would not have worked. This is the worlds first picture of a wild jaguar in a Mayan limestone cave. And the first of many. Meet Romeo the jaguar. More pictures will be released in due time. The camera are still rolling, and lets just say we are having a good year.
