Large Strangler Fig
This crazy thing is growing in our mangrove forest. It’s very large and very oddly constructed. Leaves are about as long as an adult hand from wrist to fingertip. These are bird magnets when fruiting, multiple species - fruit eaters likr Tityra, Euphonias, Warblers, Thrushes, Tanagers, and many more. The sap is also good to treat ring worms.
This tree is located on our nature trail at the Caribbean Shrimp Company farm in Ladyville — the only organic (and publicly accessible ) shrimp farm in the country. It is a very beautiful specimen. It must be quite old.
