Early office of the BTB (Belize Tourism Board) on Regent Street, also used by other government ministries
These buildings were on Regent Street, near the Mopan Hotel. They were used by Government Supply Control and Consumer protection offices were there and other officessuch as BTB, Labour, Bureau of Standards, and other ministries. The Supplies Control Office was on the left side of the building.
The central staircase led up to the offices of Supplies Control, where you went to get an import permit, for anything for which imports were regulated, and you needed a special permit.
This property once belonged to Belize Estates. This was the old Tourism Ministry (in the early 1990's), it was Bureau of Standards before that. This is adjacent to Mopan Hotel, presently the National Bank is on the lot. It is on Regent Street across from Comingsby Hotel. Looking at it, Mopan Hotel is directly to the left. The home on the right was the Bradley residence. In the 60’s and 70’s the building was offices. I even think that at times foreigners working for government lived there.
Opposite that house on Regent Street was Balderamos, then Haylock, Sheran (those two may be reversed), Hood and an empty lot, thisis going back pre-Hattie. On Palm Lane, behind Balderamos was Codd, then Stansbury, Foreshore, sea.
It was a private residence in the early 40's. The verandahs wrapped around the house and there were stairs on either side of the landing. This building was also home for a few medical doctors.
