Here's the same pier in 1977, looking the other way. Photo by Alan Jackson.

Here it is in 1978. This picture shows Placencia Producer's Cooperative at prime time the up stairs building on the left was the general office and a grocery store for members and the public, the one on the right was the ice house, i was a clerk in the grocery store, it was a time when medium sized ships came and picked up the product from the cooperative, to make a long story short it was the prime time of the cooperative. The boat docked at Pier resembles the MV Maya Prince. Photo by Alan Jackson.

Hickatee.com
Hickatee Cottages offers the best of both worlds: award-winning guesthouse accommodation in a lovely jungle setting, yet only a couple of miles from 'downtown' Punta Gorda (PG). Intentionally small and decidedly quiet, we have just six rooms, ranging in size and price from the Hickatee Den to our Honeymoon Suite.

The top picture takes me way back, when I was in my teens in the early 1970's, I was working at Placencia Producer's Cooperative at the time I was working in the processing plant, that big tank on the right was for gasoline and the drums was oil for the generator and outboard machines, the building on the end of the dock was the Budeaga, meaning a storage for goods and cargo, it seems like the public works was repairing at that time, I was selling the gasoline an oil for the cooperative at the time.
