On January 13th, 1998, Manuel Heredia Jr., J.P., UDP Standard Bearer for Belize Rural South presented $1,500.00 to St. Peter's College.

According to Mr. Heredia, money donated to the college is a part of a community vote fund given to political officers to help schools, contribute to community projects and other worthy causes.

Mr. Frank Nuņez, Executive Administrator of St. Peter's College, explained that the money received from Mr. Heredia would be used to pay the rent for school building. "The rent is $2,200.00 total," he said. "The elementary school pays $800.00 while the high school pays $1,400.00. Whenever we get a big donation we use the money to pay our rent. It's hard to make ends meet and if it wasn't for the elementary school the high school would experience more difficulties."

Mr. Heredia presented the cheque to Ms. Addy "Lela" Trejo, Vice-Principal of St. Peter's College. Mr. Heredia also said that he would be handing over a parcel of land (past Victoria House) on which a permanent campus for St. Peter's could be built. On Wednesday, January 14th, Mr. Heredia traveled to Caye Caulker where he made a contribution to the primary school.
