Peace Corps helps Green Reef

Ann Hayden

Ann Hayden is the Peace Corps volunteer who has been assigned to aid Green Reef. Ann is now the Assistant Project Coordinator of Green Reef.

Green Reef applied to the Peace Corps for a volunteer to help coordinate the organization. Ann stated that the Peace Corps accepted Green Reef's petition because it is a young non-profit association and they were very interested to work for such a group.

Ann is from Davis, California; she attended the University of California, Santa Cruz where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Biology. Before entering the Peace Corps, she worked for the non-profit organization called "Trust - for public land." Green Reef has found the need to construct a definite management and structure for its organization since it is growing. Ann will be involved in grant writing, and her priority at the moment is to develop a management plan for Green Reef. She will be involved in most of the tasks that Green Reef takes on and later in the year she will be involved in environment education.

At the moment Green Reef is in the process of opening an office. Ann will start working on brochures to help educate and introduce Green Reef to the public. Ann's stay in San Pedro will be for two years and this will be a stepping stone for her to continue her studies onto graduate school.
