Contact Rose Flores at <[email protected]> for assistance in getting the permits you will need to bring in your pets.

I believe most airlines will fly your pets "with you" ------ as special baggage, providing that conditions are appropriate. The issues at this time of year are all about the survival of your pet - most carriers do not fly pets in "summer" due to potential of heat-realted death in transit. I had excellent service for my cats (in two kennel-carriers that went into cargo ) long, long ago - with American Airlines. At that time they seemed to be the most pet-aware of the various airlines. Cost (then) was $50 per carrier, the cats were taken out for a long-layover in Miami (for an extra $50 loading fee) so that we could give them some love.

IMHO - your pets deserve the protection of having a human escort.

You can fly cats in the cabin, its much safer and less stressful on the animals.

Thanks Diane-I believe we are good to go!!! (permits) and we're good on this end too. Rick has all the info from our vet there with him, and all I got to do is go by and get their permits before I leave. (paperwork) rabies etc....do they have to be in "kennels" to go thru customs there or can you walk them through???? Miss "A", you get my email. C

Well, all I can say is "beware" to anyone wanting to visit Rick and Cheri once their Chow Chows are in their new Ambergris Caye home. Chows have a reputation (rather deserved) for being over-loyal to their owners to the point of viciousness to anyone and anything else. The hot weather of Belize allied with their long thick fur will not help their "friendly" dispositions!

It is SO wrong to judge a dog by it's breed! Our neighbors son raises Pit Bulls. His parents have 2 and they are the most GENTLE dogs. One does nothing but lick your feet if you have on sandles. The other is just a big baby. Are you also worried about Basset Hounds?

Those tea-cup chihuahuas are the scariest dogs i've run across. Make de chows look like kittens.

I'm sure their dogs are well mannered and well cared for, their adjustment will be just like any other dog or person. Time will mellow them, they will be Belizeans soon laugh
