Correct me if I am wrong, Dane. The south part of the island has few people and larger lots so the electricity folks may think it is not worth the cost of extending elec. down there for so few people. The north of CC above the split has three subdivisions all allocated to locals (and many now sold to non-locals) but numbering hundreds of lots. People are already building up there and many more want to build. It seems to me that if each owner paid, say, $2000 BZ a large enough sum would be raised to bring electricity. But this is something that the village council needs to organize. They have the names of all owners who pay taxes to them and they could organize a campaign, make a deal with Belize Electricity for a lump sum and then divide it between owners willing and able to pay. Okay maybe it is naive of me to think this could happen but what do you think?
For myself I plan to build and put in solar panels (not ideal, but adequate) have a gas refrigerator, run fans and lights and forget about air conditioning. I can dig a well (the water is good up there) for washing and collect rain for drinking just like we used to do on CC. But I would love to have electricity just for the convenience.
