Does anyone have up to date information on when or if electricity might be extended to the north island. I heard a rumor that it was going as far as the first subdivision because a minister wanted it to build a hotel. Any truth to this?

ha ha minister wow. well electricity will pass before in bahia puesta del sol before it goes across the split honey. the thing is bahia puesta del sol subdivision there are fixing and everyone is building so there is no reason to put electicity where people are not expanding and building. hope it helps.

In reality electricity will probably be years away, south island dosnt have it all the way down. What will probably bring it will be big investors and homeowners footing the bill as their isnt any money for it. I heard today a water treatment system and pipe water might be in the works for the Village?????

There is no need to apply logic to the electricity extension. Someone wrote a large check to put power to part of Bahia. When you can point to the person ready to write a large check for the North Island, then power will be coming. Hint: it won't be the Government, minster hotel or not.

There is water in the works but it is also all about who writes the check. Apart from Bahia everone else has water...

Correct me if I am wrong, Dane. The south part of the island has few people and larger lots so the electricity folks may think it is not worth the cost of extending elec. down there for so few people. The north of CC above the split has three subdivisions all allocated to locals (and many now sold to non-locals) but numbering hundreds of lots. People are already building up there and many more want to build. It seems to me that if each owner paid, say, $2000 BZ a large enough sum would be raised to bring electricity. But this is something that the village council needs to organize. They have the names of all owners who pay taxes to them and they could organize a campaign, make a deal with Belize Electricity for a lump sum and then divide it between owners willing and able to pay. Okay maybe it is naive of me to think this could happen but what do you think?

For myself I plan to build and put in solar panels (not ideal, but adequate) have a gas refrigerator, run fans and lights and forget about air conditioning. I can dig a well (the water is good up there) for washing and collect rain for drinking just like we used to do on CC. But I would love to have electricity just for the convenience.
