My GF and I coming in August for 8 nights. This is her 3rd visit. My first. I'm looking forward to coming.

Question, I've heard the scorpions can be a real nuisance. Is this hype or legit?

Also where are some good beaches for swimming? I see a lot of pictures of good sandy beaches by MY gf insists there arent really any and that you have to wadethrough the grass with creepy stingy thinks lurking to get out out to the grass-less areas that are good for swimming.

How's the weather been?

Hype. They look sinister but about like a bee sting and they will run away from you if they can. Same story with the local taranchulas. Should be much more afraid of most your local spiders. Kinda cool to see em but they don't climb into the top of your thatch hut and up to the bed to your neck. Exept in hollywood. smile

Disclaimer; Of course some people could be allergic. Bring epipins if ya are. They don't sell em down here.

Ramon's and banyan bay area have two good areas for swimming. Never got stung by anything in the water. A friend did get pica pica once. Great place to see lots of fish out by Ramon's dock lots of people snorkel there.

Only saw one scorpion in the year and a half here and it was dead in a jar caught by friends.

Was in the water Sunday and it was very warm.

Ramon's is a hotel, actually near the airstrip, just south. The beach there is very popular with tourists and locals. Snorkeling off the pier is interesting, with ladder access open to all.

Caye Caulker dos not have a problem with scorpions or tarantuals. I've lived here 7 years and have never seen one.
