Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

A Gale Warning is in effect off the coast of Colombia. Broad ridging associated with high pressure of 1025 mb centered near 29N56W continues to sustain an easterly trade-wind regime for the the majority of the basin. Outside the Gale Warning area, fresh to strong E winds and 7 to 9 ft seas exist over most of the Caribbean basin. The exception to the trade wind regime is over the NW Caribbean, where a cold front has moved into the region early this morning. Extending from the western tip of Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras, scattered moderate convection is within 30 nm ahead of the boundary. Behind the front, fresh N winds and seas of 5 to 7 ft dominate. For the remainder of the NW Caribbean, light to gentle NE winds and seas of 3 to 5 ft dominate.

For the forecast, fresh to strong NE to E trades will continue over the central and E Caribbean Sea through tonight. A cold front will move east to central Cuba and the Cayman Islands today, then dissipate tonight. Fresh N winds are expected behind the front over the NW Caribbean through tonight. Elsewhere, large and long- period E swell with seas at 8 to 10 ft is over the tropical N Atlantic. This swell is affecting the Lesser Antilles and will continue today before gradually subsiding Mon. In the extended range, a building ridge north of the area will strengthen the trades across the Caribbean on Wed and Thu.

Sunday with wintery atmosphere, due to the mass of cold air that gave boost to the front no. 31 "Pixan", which moves over the Caribbean Sea. Clouds will be leaving scattered rain. Monday morning "cold" will still be felt.

We have an expected low of 68 and the current temperature is 73f.
A literal cold front here on Ambergris Caye. Sunny sky and a great Sunday to read in the hammock :-)

This second cold front that followed the earlier one has well and truly come down over Belize and pushing out into the Caribbean and caused a line of rain out at sea. It has dropped the air temperature 23 °C 73 °F to 19 °C 65 °F which has also dropped the Humidity from 80% to 73% There is a strong surface wind from the SSW making it feel even colder. The Caribbeans winds, now from the NNE are fighting the cold air out over the sea, but there is still a lot of cloud over most of Belize.

Looks as if today will be largely cloudy for most, but then brightening up later, no rain expected.

Last Night Temperature 19 °C 65 °F Yesterday max. Temperature 29 °C 83 °F
Humidity 73% Pressure 1021 mBar hPa Yesterday Rain 2.0 mm ( 0.08 " ) Over Night Rain 6.9 mm ( 0.28 " )

SUNDAY....roadtrip to Mountain Pine Ridge..

The cold weather will intensify even further for tonight and tomorrow at dawn because we are under the domination of a polar air mass in the process of modifying.
