Painting of Crazy Canucks Beach Bar

Some of the old folk still referred to Crazy Canucks as "Playador" no matter what you called it we can all agree on is that this building has many fun memories for many people. To me it was where I started my first art gallery and thaught many people art lessons! Crazy Canucks was always a fun place but I have to say it truly was Krista Lee and Rob Burrows who gave the place a life of it's own! Now that the building is gone forever I thought it would be fun to paint it so we had a fun little reminder of all the good times spent there.

Crazy Canucks was started by Harry and Sandra Burnett from Canada,(BC area I believe). There for it became Crazy Canuck's, situated on the property known as Playador. It was Aqua Lodge before La Joya del Caribe.

That same property was owned originally by Cory McDermott and Ramon Nunez. It was sold to a relatively of Ramon Nunez and a partner. Then sold to Harry and Sandra.

Then it became owned by ECI and named Exotic Caye Beach Resort.

The bar was leased by several others but the last ones were Rob and Krista.

The whole property is changing and will become Marriott Residences.

It was the Playador after La Hoya del Caribe and before the Exotic Caye. Harry and Sandra Burnett had the place from 1991 thru 98 and named the bar Crazy Canucks. Way back it was Ramon's II.

Previous owners Krista and Rob have opened a new place in Boca del Rio called Nauti Crab, t Seven Seas on the beachfront. The new place is awesome and all the employees are still there!!. Still have the crab races.

When Mickey's Restaurant was upstairs on Wednesdays she served the biggest best burrito ever for $5. What a blast. Also Rasta Pasta Pizza Amore used to be upstairs.

Their monday Garifuna parties were so funny! Jesse Cope hung out there for many years...

Jesse Cope: When Mickey's was upstairs...breakfast every morning.

Amy Brown: Those Burritos fed me for days.

Angela Dowden: Rasta Pasta had the best egg sandwhich on an english muffin. So many mornings I would ride up on my bike and leave so

Marcie Guerrero: I loved working for Harry at the Playador with Wayo and Dave. RIP Harry.

Marty Casado: the conch fritters... i used to pull over boats going to san pedro that i was on to hit caye caulker long enuf to get conch fritters when maralyn was on caye caulker..

Here's the old Playador website....
