So much for kumbaya --- Scandanavia's socialism works very well because the society is very homogeneous and have near zero birth rates. Socialism is showing itself to be a failed experiment in the majority of the EU that is forced to deal with diversity and growing populations. France and Germany have staved off the inevitable by working together like 2 bankrupt companies joining forces -- together they can prop each other up, but only for so long. The EU has opened up borders among neighbor nations to assist with their major labor crisis. However, this will only work for so long before the problems of individual nations will prove unwieldy for the nations together. Especially with China now on the world stage, the EU will be unable to sustain both their welfare states with 35 hour work weeks and free, well everything, and also be a prominent world economic power.
