This week SAGA has two vets (with proper paperwork) here on the island doing pro-bono work spaying and neutering. Today is their last day. They spent one and a half days in Caye Caulker doing similar pro-bono work.

In the 4 1/2 days they worked here on the island they did almost 200 spays and neuters for stray or needy animals...quite a back log of operations caused by the fact that SAGA has not had a full time vet for some months now.

SAGA needs a vet, even if it's just for 3 or 4 days a week. Poorer people here on the island also need a vet they can afford.
Most of the spays and neuters were pets. I totally understand if Laurie the Vet can't do spays and neuters for next to nothing and neither should she be forced to do so.

The fact is that does leave a TON of spays and neuters that have to be done by SOMEONE.

Peter Jones, I disagree with you, I'm confident the on line petition will help SAGA and thus I've just signed it. I also made a donation of $300BZE to SAGA which I have just handed to a SAGA volunteer. I'm sure this will help too.......

I should add that if I was a dog owner (and I used to be for many years here) I would be using Laurie's services because I'm not poor and needy. But, folk ought to have the right to choose.
