WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): The bonefishing was good in the morning but the flats got just a little too hot by the early afternoon so 80% of the bonefish were caught before noon. In the afternoon we had to find some deeper water to catch them. Catch them we did with everyone getting into the action. Brenda's first fish on a fly rod was a bonefish! Our South Carolina group consisting of Sandy, Alex, Andrew, Catherine, George and their South Carolina guide Mike all had an easy time with bonefish. This was true for Nick, Jason, honeymooners Dillon and Katie, Mom and daughter team Suzanne and Katie, father-son team Van and Matt, and returning couples, Elizabeth and Tom, Dan and Jeree, John and Amanda, Greg and Brenda, Tom and Vanessa, Jeremiah and Christina, Jason and Julia, Trevit and Jodi, Nick, Jason, Kerri, Warren, the family Wallace I think that is most everybody who fished this week! A lot of people for August!

PERMIT (Palometta): Andrew got 2 permit this week, one of which was a very nice fish! Trevit got a beauty, Jason as part part of his grand slam got one, as did Dan and Jeremiah fulfilling their double slam.

TARPON (Sabalo): Tarpon was the name o f the game this week as Kerri got right to work with a dream come true - a tarpon on the fly! Her work with Casting for Recovery and other women's organizations was rewarded as she must have built up the Karma needed to get it done! Tom and Vanessa got 2 in on their first day on the water and Tom finished with 8 landed tarpon for the week - all hail tarpon King Tom! Sayer caught her first tarpon while husband Dustin proudly coached her through the process. George jumped 4, Warren got one, Brenda got one, Jason (as part of his slam), Sandy, his twin grandsons Alex and Andrew proved they were not really as identical as they appeared. Andrew watched his brother catch tarpon while Alex seemed to be better at permit! Jodi landed a big one as part of her family slam, and father son team Van and Matt finished the week with some nice tarpon to the boat. Dan and Jeremiah also landed side by side tarpon on the way to their double slam!

OTHER SPECIES: Jacks, snook, cuda, sharks, sting rays, and snappers galore.

Grand Slam: We had a family slam with Trevit and Jodi, Trevit got the permit and bonefish on Saturday and Jodi caught the tarpon the same day. A double grand slam for Dan and Jeremiah on their last day of fishing with each getting their slam later in the day (usually it is early in the day). Mid-week Jason went out with hopes of catching a tarpon, he came back with a grand slam!

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Special, Crazy Charlie variations, becks sili-legs.

FOR PERMIT - tan mantis shrimp, CI Special, Custom single strip avalon.

FOR TARPON - Black death, White toad, white deceiver live bait.

This Week's Summary:

Tarpon were back on the bite this week and the nice weather made it possible to fish anywhere we wanted. The grand slams tell it all - the weather was good and the fish were hungry.

Fish On!
