WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): A windy week, but sunny most of the time. Our anglers had a pretty good week of Bonefishing in spite of the windy conditions. The guides are really skilled at finding places to fish no matter what the circumstances. Some of the anglers managed to boat over twenty fish a day. The week ahead looks promising and should produce great fishing days.

PERMIT (Palometta): Lots of permit around and several caught. Al K. landed his permit and then landed a tarpon and a bonefish on his way to his Grand Slam. Lanny also got his first permit and joined that limited group of permit fisherman who have actually landed one! Way to go guys!

TARPON (Sabalo): The week was filled with tarpon sightings and catches. Al hooked eight and landed four the day he had his grand slam. Greg, Colin and Jim had a total of six tarpon between them, and Colin had a week slam catching all species during his stay. It has been a good week of tarpon fishing.

OTHER SPECIES: Barracuda, needlefish, snapper, triggerfish, and jacks.

GRAND SLAM: Congratulations to Al K. for his Grand Slam this week.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

FOR PERMIT - Grand Slam Crab, Squimp in size 6&8, Mantis shrimp.

FOR TARPON - Red and white, olive, white, red and black, all black and black and purple toads and bunnies continue to work well.

This Week's Summary:

Addiel Perez (with the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust) and crew joined us for a few days to finish up their tagging efforts. Looking ahead we are planning a town meeting to discuss additional protection for the sites where the bonefish spawn, hopefully in May. We will keep you posted.
