Weather Conditions: The wind is our enemy this week. Morning clouds giving way to clear skies all week. Winds: E 10 - 20, occasional gusts to 24 mph

Air Temperature: Mid to high 80s for the highs and mid 70's for the low.

Water Temperature: 78 - 80 F degrees

Barometric Pressure: 29.69 - 29.95

Moonphase: The first quarter moon is on April 25th

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Lots of bonefish! John, Marty, Mark, Todd, Sally Kathy, Dan, Robert 1,2,3, Craig 1, Craig 2, Greg, John 1, John 2, Aldon, Susan, Bart, Stephen, Elizabeth, Dru, Jason, Jonathan, Christian and many more landed bonefish all week. A few boats exceeded 30 fish in a day! There was no shortage of bonefish during this windy week.

PERMIT (Palometta): All Hail - Permit Queen Elizabeth from the UK, our lovely guest Elizabeth caught her permit on the proper queen's birthday! Hover, this put some pressure on her husband Stephen who has hooked 2 but has not landed any yet. Rob 1 and Rob 2 both got a good permit, then it happened again - Women and permit, and I mean lots of permit� 19 in one day, yes 19, half of them on a fly, half on bait, a tremendous day for Sally and Kathy. They showed great patience and focus during their stay at El Pescador and it paid off big time. There was a school of hundreds of small but hungry permit that just stayed in one area and kept on eating! Congratulations to both of them. Friday - Stephen landed his coveted permit in the 11th hour. This is also fantastic news for Stephen and Elizabeth's relationship! After several days of celebrating Elizabeth's beautiful permit, it was clear Stephen was on a mission to even the score. It took some hard wading and perseverance to track down, hook and land this pretty fish. Saturday - Jim and son Jay got a couple permit each, Jonathan and Dru got 8 between them, Kerry and his son Ritchie had 3 between them! That is a lot of permit in one week!

TARPON (Sabalo): The all women boat of Sally and Kathy landed a couple of 25 pounders midweek, which inspired Dan to get one of his own the following day. It was his first ever tarpon! A great achievement for a great guy. Overall the tarpon fishing was not up to par because of the wind. Our normal tarpon flats west of the island were just too windy to fish. Once that wind starts to churn up the bottom the flats get off color and tough to fish. I can't wait for the migratory tarpon to start flooding our southern tarpon waters.

OTHER SPECIES: Barracuda, jacks, snapper and snook.

Grand Slam: Just soft slams (Bonefish tarpon, permit in one week) were recorded this week, If the winds had cooperated I bet there would have been several slams this week.

FOR PERMIT - Christmas Island Specials, Mantis Shrimp, small AvalonPeterson's Spawning Shrimp in size 4, Beck Silly legs Chartreuse size 4, Christmas Island Specials in size 4, 6, Mantis shrimp size 4, and a Bauer Crab

FOR TARPON - Black Death, White toads, size 2/0 and 3/0.

This Week's Summary:

Despite the wind the permit fishing was on fire! More permit this week than I have seen in a long time. Saltwater anglers have a love - hate relationship with wind. They hate casting in it, but they love the way it camouflages their presence. With lots of wave action and wave noise it is easier to get closer to a permit than the calm day we all hope for. An ideal wind here is 8-10 mph out of the east, it is a perfect compromise of having enough wind to hide your approach and not so much wind that you can't cast or the guide can't handle the boat
