WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Bone fish remained very cooperative despite the windy weather. With just a few boats going out each day the reports were consistent find a mud (a group of feeding bonefish in deeper water) and you can catch 20, or stalk the shallows and catch just a few. Many of the guests that went out were first time flats fishers and they all succeeded with multiple bonefish. We are located far enough south that chilly weather from the north never shuts down the flats, making us a year-round fishery especially when compared to Florida, Cuba or the Bahamas.

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit fishing is addicting to many poor souls that come across their paths, Jeremy came all the way from the UK to feed his addiction and to try to feed a permit. Each day he was closer and closer to his goal (repeating his success of 2015, which was legendary.) On the next to last day of the trip, the permit switch turned on and they started to eat. He hooked 7 and landed 4 that day. His wife Ann was even more relieved than Jeremy because this success means they will be back next year.

TARPON (Sabalo): Several encounters with tarpon a couple of hookups but none came to the boat. The winds kept the anglers off fabled Savanah flats

OTHER SPECIES: Some big snook, barracudas, ladyfish, snappers, and grouper.

GRAND SLAM: No Grand Slams this week.
