WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
Welcome back thanks go to returning guests Charles and son Philip, Charlie and Casey, Dan, Archie, Wayne, Bob and Karen, Scott and John. Bonefish are a given for these folks but their presence here at the lodge is not! Dan got some nice size fish in the 3-5 pound range.
Nathan and Diana, joined our bonefish club as did Fred and Judy, Heather and Todd, George and Cindy, Dan and Barb, Kevin And Christien, Stacy and Michael, Adam and Ashley, and Tyler and Emily. We hate to take our bonefish for granted here on Ambergris so each week we remind ourselves how lucky we are to be surrounded by so many fish.
PERMIT (Palometta):
Newlyweds Ashley and Adam (married right here at El Pescador) took turns with the permit as Adam was on board first followed by Ashley's slam permit later in the week.
TARPON (Sabalo):
Casey and Charlie had a tarpon thing going with their guide, landing at least 4 during the week. Casey was too humble to admit exactly how many he caught. Ashley got a nice mangrove tarpon to complete her slam, Adam's honeymoon slam was completed with his first tarpon on a fly!
OTHER SPECIES:
Barracudas, Snappers, Snook
Grand Slam:
Ashley did it all this week, got married, enjoyed her honeymoon and managed a grand slam in between! Adam her new husband almost slammed the same day but missed the tarpon. Adam is credited with a honeymoon slam with all three species caught on his honeymoon week.
FLIES THAT WORKED
FOR BONEFISH -
CI-Special, Crazy Charlie, Gotcha
FOR PERMIT -
Mantis shrimp
FOR TARPON -
white deceiver, gummy minnow, black death
This Week's Summary:
It was a pleasure to host the wedding of Adam and Ashley. A great couple from Colorado who lit up the fishing on their combination wedding and honeymoon trip. The more we got out of the North wind the better the fishing got.
Fish On!
