WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Another large bonefish made its way to an angler's fly this week - estimated weight at 6 pounds! Lots of smaller and medium size fish were caught daily, with one boat recording 28 fish!. Even with cloudy weather many of the guides were able to find schools of feeding fish to keep everybody happy. As there are most weeks, there were several first ever bonefish success stories!

PERMIT (Palometta): Returning guest (and friend) Frank got his dream permit this week after several encounters with less than enthusiastic fish. A nice 10 pounder that got Frank's adrenaline flowing. This was his first permit of his fly-fishing life ~ but surely not his last. Tom and Pam have visited us for many years; and this week Tom celebrated another permit to the delight of Pam and all of the staff here.

TARPON (Sabalo): The tarpon of the week was landed by another returning friend of EP, Keith 85 pounds of solid chrome fighting machine! Just so you know Keith paid his dues working hard for several days before it all came together. No one deserved it more. Young Daniel and his sister Emily both got tarpon in addition to the bonefish, snappers, jacks, cudas that they gladly pulled in. Mom ( Rebecca) and Dad (John) each had a boat and swapped the kids around freely, sometimes meeting up for lunch to ignite some spirited fish stories! John got what we call a road tarpon, as there is a spot along the road we often see rolling tarpon anywhere from 5-20 pounds.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, cudas, snappers , grunts, spanish mackerel, and ladyfish.

GRAND SLAM: No Grand slams this week.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Special, Crazy charlies, Tiny Crabs, and Gotcha's.

FOR PERMIT - Merkin, Avalon.

FOR TARPON - Tan Toad, Black Bunny, Black Death

This Week's Summary:

Some of the fall Orvis bonefish Bonanza arrived early to get a head start on the rest of the group, only about 4-5 boats went out each day, so pretty quiet week overall!
