WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
Our guests took comfort from the wind on some of the secluded flats on the west side of the island with bonefish days ranging from 1-25 fish. Winds like this limit our fishery to a fraction of its normal size. Flats that are normally clear are riled up, wide open flats were just too windy to try so it takes some patience , some blind casting and perseverance to make things happen, A great Christmas week with lots of families visiting; Husband and wife Jeff and Peggy, Jeff, John and Ali, Bryan, Molly, James, Robert, Davis and John, Michael, Naomi, and Seth Robert, Pam, and Kim, Matson, Sam, Sawyer and Susie, Charles, Elizabeth, and Josie, Steven, Wyatt and Jackson, Robert, Bobby, Natalie, William, and Tobias, Nancy and Gray, Hill, Cornelia, Cornelia 2 and William, Jonathan, Samantha (Sam), George and Thomas, Most of them took part is some good bonefishing despite the wind
PERMIT (Palometta):
Two permit were landed this week one of which led to a Grand Slam! Gray visited the lodge with his lovely wife Nancy and was rewarded with a very big permit early on in his trip. Mike persevered through the heavy wind and off color water and managed an unlikely permit.
TARPON (Sabalo):
Mike was the only success story for tarpon although there were many hookups that ended in the dreaded long distance release. Our famous tarpon flats were totally out of shape with the high winds we experienced this week so the only tarpon fishing that was available was searching around likely mangrove creeks and lagoons.
OTHER SPECIES:
Barracudas, Snappers, ladyfish, tripletail, triggerfish, Jacks
Grand Slam:
Mike's Slam happened during the worst of the wind and his success kept all the other fishermen going this week. We wish Mike all the best as he rushed back to the states after falling ill with some heart related issues. His prognosis is good and we are hoping for a speedy recovery to celebrate his grand slam!
FLIES THAT WORKED
FOR BONEFISH -
CI-Special, Crazy Charlie
FOR PERMIT -
Avalon (small one), Christmas Island Specials
FOR TARPON -

This Week's Summary:
The wind was tough but the anglers persevered and got some good fishing in. Christmas was celebrated with one of the largest group of guests El Pescador has hosted. The family atmosphere was wonderful.
